“We are blessed by the gods, knowing that all things have spirits; when we master the principles of change in all things, we can achieve the elemental manipulation skills we call—the bipolar law of all things.”
Elves: the outsiders favored by Destiny
Unlike humans who learn spells through magic books, the ability to control elements seems to be innate to elf mages on the Taris Continent.
However, elves are not an original species on Taris. They were born on another destroyed planet: Veylu. Prior to Veylu’s calamity and destruction, Destiny secretly transferred the elves to a planet very similar to Veylu in atmosphere: Taris.
Through the tree of Luen, the high priest of the elves, the “Archdruid” can communicate directly with the god of Fate. They multiplied in the Misty Forest for generations, until hundreds of thousands of years later, when the “Inscribed Eternal Stone” fell and the divine power of the World Tree disappeared. A portion of the elves chose to leave the forest and explore the future of their people on the wider continent.

So, we could see that a part of the elven magicians gradually activated in various fields of Taris: some became officials of the realm, using the unique wisdom of the elves to solve challenges; some became mentors in academies, marking generations of students with their innate elemental talents; some became legendary heroes, using the mighty power of fire and frost to protect this continent… Elven mages used racial wisdom and magical abilities to promote the progress of the entire world.
A Reliable Dealer of Ranged Equipment Damage
Only pure mental power can withstand powerful spells, making mages untrained enough for physical combat. Once at close range, the battle becomes less friendly to mages. However, embodying wisdom, they know how to use space and elemental forces to avoid life-threatening situations.
Of course, adventures in the world of Taris are never solitary journeys. Battle partners with chemistry will block damage and heal mages. A mage with a suitable environment for dealing damage can quickly make enemies disappear.
The Dance of Ice and Fire at your fingertips
Mages have always represented magic and wisdom and excel in controlling the elements. Those who specialize in fire are the main damage dealers on the team, controlling the flames to burn everything, dealing massive damage within range. Conversely, those who specialize in Frost can deal damage while in control of the battlefield, creating a more favorable fighting environment for teammates during continuous sparring.
Frost Specialization: Chill Spread
Any foe who has fought a Frost Mage knows how tricky they can be: powerful Frost spells can freeze or slow enemies, providing a more advantageous attack environment for teammates while keeping your energy production up. The frost mage’s power entangles the enemy like worms in their bones, firmly controlling the pace of battle.

For example, the control-leaning “Kiting” style can unleash energy or stack layers through flexible moves, while maintaining high damage output while moving.

Also, the “Ice Cone” style leaning towards the exit sacrifices some mobility for stronger control over the timeline. The accumulated ice energy deals incredibly high damage.
Fire Specialization: Exploding Embers
The fire mage mechanism is simpler and more brutal. Most of the fire abilities deal a lot of damage without singing, making them reliable damage dealers on the team.

This is how the “Fireball” style was born, which allows you to cast while moving and respond flexibly to various situations. And the “Skyfire” style, which sacrifices some mobility to deal burst damage while stationary.

In addition to their innate abilities, mages can also freely assemble their profession’s secret techniques based on different situations, such as Blink, Shield, Interrupt, Bind, etc. Sophisticated combo strategy and timing will make secret techniques work miracles in battle, reversing the result.
Currently, both ice magic and fire magic have their strengths, we can’t define which power is more substantial. When mages are faced with the choice between the branches of ice and fire, they need to be clear about what challenges they will face in their future adventures and the sacrifices they must make. But no matter the choice, innate racial talents and divine intent, once transmitted by Rune, will illuminate the path forward for every mage…
